What is the difference between Die Casting & Die Striking?

Understanding the difference between our two available branding options will help you decide your final medallion product.

Die Casting

A Die Casted Medallion

Die casting is most suitable for medallion designs that have a high level of detail.

Die casting starts with us creating a cast of your required design followed by having porous metal poured in to the recessed areas of the die. This allows for very high detailed results and even captures little intricate details that other processes may miss. We then apply a finishing option of your choice and polish it to finalise the process.

Die Striking

A Die Casted Medallion

Die striking is most suitable for medallion designs that have a lot of color or a higher quality metal is desired.

Die striking involves striking the metal with your design to press it in to the metal. The result is a sharp and crisp medallion with a high level of detail present. We offer die striking on both iron and brass metals. The iron is slightly more affordable whilst the brass is a bit higher quality. If your design relies on bright vibrant colors then we would recommend the iron – otherwise the brass is your best bet.
